Corporal Samuel Stubbs

At the age of sixty-two, Samuel Stubbs was quite possibly the oldest common soldier in the American army. He fought at Queenston Heights where he was taken prisoner, but was released by the British because of his advanced age. He went on to participate in the attack at York and later at the battle of New Orleans. He lived to write a colorful account of his War of 1812 engagements.
