Major Adam Muir Adam Muir was a respected officer of the British 41st Regiment of Foot. He was instrumental in organizing skirmishes which prevented supplies from reaching Detroit. In Brownstown, near the River Raisin, he tried in vain to save the life of a young American soldier on whom the Native Americans were treating poorly. Muir and Tecumseh also conducted a surprise raid on an American supply train as they made another attempt to reach Fort Detroit. Muir was hit by musket fire several times, but managed to get most of his men to safety. These raids were successful in demoralizing American troops. Muir and the 41st Regiment of Foot served under Major General Procter at the infamous Battle of Frenchtown in early 1813. Muir was taken prisoner and held in Kentucky for some months before being exchanged back to Canada. In 1814, Muir was promoted to brevet major and took command of militia in the Grand River district of the Niagara Peninsula. The Battle of Malcolm's Mills in November 1814, his last for the war, would end in defeat.
