Lieutenant Colonel John Harvey Harvey was one of the British officers in Canada with extensive combat experience from all over the empire. He arrives at his post, Second in Command to Vincent on the Niagara frontier after traveling, part of the way in show shoes, from Halifax in February 1813. Harvey can justifiably take full credit for the plan to attack the American Army of the Centre at Stoney Creek in June 1813. He also did much to organize keeping the Americans bottled up in Ft. George after they retreated there.
