December 27, 1814 The American schooner USS Carolina comes under heavy fire from enemy. British gunners found the ships range with some of their very first shots. The ship was only able to respond with four undirected shots in reply to the British attack. Heated shot set her afire, and her crew was forced to abandon her. Shortly after she was abandoned, the ship exploded.
