Bounty Counter Bounty In November 1812 Governor Claiborne of Louisiana posted a reward of $500 dollars to any person delivering John Lafitte to the Sheriff of the Parish of New Orleans. Lafitte responded by posting a reward of $5,000 to any person who delivered Governor Claiborne to him. The governor was not amused.
