Peace on British Terms

On October 21, 1814, British peace delegate Henry Goulburn laments in a letter about the state of negotiations with the US. "If we had either burnt Baltimore or held Plattsburg I believe we should have had peace on terms." This only goes to show that the British did see themselves as losing the war, not just successfully defending Canada.
