Retribution for Pigeon Roost, September 7, 1812 The militia of Scott, Jefferson, Clarke, and Knox Counties were assembled with about three hundred and fifty volunteers from Kentucky, under Colonel Geiger, for the purpose retribution for Pigeon Roost. Evidence of the innocence and even friendliness of those target Native Americans was wanting, and they were spared. From that time until the close of the war, the settlers in that region lived in a continual state of fear.
