Capture of Fort Sullivan

The fort, designed to defend Eastport Maine was surrendered to a British Fleet under Sir Thomas Hardy in July 1814 by units of the 40th Infantry Regiment. The British renamed the fort, Ft. Sherbrooke. The fort and the town remained in British hands until 30 June 1818. The fort was then renamed Ft. Sullivan.
