Dr. William Beanes In September 1814, as the British marched towards Baltimore (they had already burnt Washington), some of the outriders took to plundering local farms. A few of these men were captured and held prisoner by Dr. William Beanes. Gen. Rose was informed of this affair when one of the men managed to escape. He sent a column of obtain the release of these men and to arrest Dr. Beanes, which they did.
