George Armistead Lt. Col. George Armistead, commander of Ft. McHenry, lost two brothers in the War of 1812: Capt. Lewis Armistead of the 1st US Rifles was killed on September17, 1814 at Ft. Erie and Capt. Addison Armistead died in Savannah on February 10, 1813.
