October 14, 1814

On the 14th October, guns sounded an alarm at Ft. Chippewa in the morning. The 100th and 89th British regiments marched immediately to Lundy's Lane. The word was that the Americans, with almost 8000 men, had engaged with their forces at Streets Creek. The Americans had replaced Gen. Brown with Gen. Izzard. Izzard had brought with him about 2400 fresh regulars and he was determined to use them. The British withdrew from Streets Creek using the recent earthen graves of earlier casualties as cover.
